Joey Zwillinger has long been passionate about making things from renewable resources, which led him to start Allbirds and begin tackling sustainability issues in the fashion industry. Earlier in his career, he spent six years at biotech firm Terravia (formerly Solazyme Inc.), leading its renewable chemical business, developing and selling high performance algae-based chemicals to various industries such as CPG, personal care, and industrials. Previously, Mr. Zwillinger worked in advisory and investment roles at Industry Ventures, Deloitte Consulting, and Goldman Sachs. He sits on the board of education nonprofit Stiles Hall, as well as the advisory board of Wharton's Baker Retail Center.
 
He earned a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Wharton.
